The new U.S. Meat Export Federation Chairman wants to pull all sectors of the organization together to work for a common goal. Conley Nelson, an Algona, Iowa pork producer who’s serving as chairman this year says he also wants to improve communications between the different sectors of MEF.
He says as far as the tariff and trade war goes, he’s hoping it ends soon but says the industry is willing to go through a short term period of pain for long term benefits.
Nelson says one advantage MEF has is the several offices they have located around the globe working hard to promote U.S. beef and establish and re-establish critical trade relationships.
Nelson says he noticed that on a recent trip he took representing U.S. MEF in early September to Japan.
