A meeting is being held for South Dakota landowners to express their concerns with the proposed Dakota Access Pipeline.  The pipeline project would transport North Dakota crude oil to refineries in Illinois and would affect 12 South Dakota counties.  Charlie Johnson is a farmer near Madison who says the compensation that landowners would receive from Dakota Access is not enough in the long run…

Johnson says the meeting, being hosted by Dakota Rural Action, will hopefully result in a united group of landowners who can oppose construction of the pipeline.  He says the parent company of Dakota Access, Energy Transfer Partners, holds limited liability for the impacts the pipeline could potentially have…

The meeting will be held tonight (Thursday) at Nicky’s Restaurant in Madison, beginning at 7:00 pm for anyone interested in expressing their concerns and opinions.  Johnson says the pipeline will cut across about 280 miles of South Dakota with 500 to 600 landowners effected.
