South Dakota Ag Secretary Lucas Lentsch gave a presentation to the legislatures Government Operations and Audit Committee meeting in Pierre on the progress toward new rules for the sale and consumption of raw milk.

Lentsch has headed up a work group of producers and interested consumers working toward some type of compromise that would allow the sale of raw milk, and protect public health. Lentsch outlined some of the guidelines they have developed…

 

Lentsch says they also have come up with clear distinctions over different types of milk products…

 

Lentsch says a bill they are working on for introduction in the 2015 legislative session would continue a ban on retail sales of raw milk…

 

Lentsch told the committee that his work group will meet again later this month to refine the bill.
