Medical Students Head To The Farm

The first FARM members from the University of South Dakota’s Sanford School of Medicine are in the field, with a second group ready to join them next year.

The FARM, or Frontier and Rural Medicine program matches medical students with health care facilities in the states small towns.

School of Medicine Dean Dr. Mary Nettleman says their students are getting great experience in those areas…

 

Students have been matched with health care facilities in Mobridge, Winner, Platte, Milbank and Parkston.

Nettleman says the concept has a good track record in other states…

 

Nettleman says the medical school is adding more students in their mission to keep healthcare professionals in rural South Dakota…

 

Nettleman says the communities have warmly welcomed the medical students.
