Senators Mike Rounds of South Dakota, John Tester of Montana and Chuck Grassley of Iowa have introduced the Meat Packer Special Investigator Act to battle against anticompetitive practices thar are threatening the U.S. food supply.

He says this legislation gives the USDA what they need to enhance enforcement of the Packers and Stockyards Act.

Grassley says one of the key parts of his bill is creation of a special investigator’s office to ensure there’s market competition provided to everyone.

Grassley says he’s also continuing to push for his 50-14 legislation to address the cattle market price problem and is speaking with his colleagues about holding a Senate hearing to investigate that problem.
