Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar and several others signed onto a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency asking the Biden administration to reject any actions to exempt oil refiners of their obligations under the Renewable Fuels Standard. Minnesota Corn Grower’s Association President Tim Waibel appreciates their support and shares their concerns about refiners asking for waiving of those requirements.

He says the administration needs to keep RFS rules in place despite their support for electric vehicles and the oil refiners arguments that RINS are too expensive just doesn’t make sense.

Waibel says his group intends to weigh in with EPA Administrator Michael Regan about the importance of closely following the RFS and making sure its working properly.

Besides the Senators letter to the EPA, several farm and biofuel groups have also weighed in asking for support of the RFS.
