Margin Program Sign Up Extended Again

The application deadline for the Farm Bill’s Dairy Margin Protection program has been extended for a second time. The new deadline is December 19. National Milk Producer Federation’s Chris Galen says sign up for the program has gone a bit slower than what his group or USDA would have liked so Secretary Vilsack extended it.
Galen says it’s not a big expense for dairy producers to protect themselves against market forces and lock in the industry’s only safety net.
He says it’s important producers sign up this year.
Galen says producers no longer have either the M-I-L-C or dairy support program to help them. Producers can sign up until December 19 at their local farm service agency county offices.
