Many Legislative Efforts Fail in Nebraska Legislature

Many efforts to pass legislation failed to overcome opposition in the Nebraska Legislature this year.

One was an effort to expand the use of Tax Increment Financing to help rural housing.

Senator Curt Friesen of Henderson tells colleagues developments are underway in Grand Island to meet a housing shortage. . .

Senator Matt Williams of Gothenburg failed to sway enough votes to overcome their filibuster, even after describing the positive impact TIF has had on his hometown, which had a valuation of under 40-Million dollars

Williams says he hasn’t given up on the idea.
