Six current or former athletes and coaches of the GPAC were recognized during the 2016 NAIA Awards Day.

Rachel (Binneboese) Leavitt, former women’s basketball player at Northwestern has been selected for induction into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 2016.

Nic Nelson, head men’s basketball coach at Briar Cliff University and his team are the 2016 recipients of the NAIA / National Sports Foundation “All That’s Right in Sport” Award.

The National Sports Foundation and the NAIA partner annually honor one NAIA institution, team or individual for actions in NAIA competition that are a clear demonstration of extraordinary sportsmanship.

Natasha Hongsermeir of Morningside College is the 2016 recipient of the Leroy Walker Character Award. Hongsermeier is a member of the Morningside Tennis Team.

Holly Hild of Hastings College is the 2016 recipient of the Emil S. Liston Award. Hild is a member of the Hastings women’s basketball team.

Chandler Folkerts of Concordia University is the 2016 recipient of the Emil S. Liston Award. Folkerts is a member of the Concordia men’s basketball team.

Marissa DeWispelare of Doane University is the 2016 recipient of the A.O. Duer Award. DeWispelare is a member of the Doane Cross Country and Indoor and Outdoor track teams.
