Many manufacturing plants across the state have been reaching out this week with open houses and other events to mark “Manufacturing Week” and hopefully entice more people to work there.

South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation Secretary Marcia Hultman took part in an event in Yankton this week.

She says a shortage of workers is not unique to the state…

There have been many state incentive programs to help companies attract workers. Hultman says they are getting mixed results…

Hultman says there will not be any fast and easy fixes to the worker shortages…

Company representatives have said they are losing business because of the lack of enough workers.
