Get your snow shovels ready. It looks like a major snow event is headed our way. Becky Kern is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Omaha and says they are watching a system that is now near Hawaii and another near Alaska…

Kern says it is a bit too early to exactly know how much snow will fall but adds there will be 40-MPH-plus wind that will cause blowing, drifting and white-out conditions. Snowfall could start in western Nebraska Monday morning and hit the eastern part of the state that evening.

Kern says Nebraskans need to prepare for blizzard or near-blizzard conditions…

Kern says snow could start falling in western Nebraska Monday morning and the eastern part of the state during the evening hours. The storm will move out of Nebraska by Wednesday and the wind will settle down making good conditions for clean-up. Travelers should prepare in advance and be ready to make alternate plans.
