National Cattlemen’s Beef Association members are working with Congress to address some major concerns that center around regulations and taxes. Nebraska rancher Craig Uden, President of NCBA says the rewrite of WOTUS along with Tax Reform are all coming to the forefront.
He says several components are needed with the tax reform legislation including getting rid of the estate tax and keeping needed deductions in place like interest expenses and the Section 179 exemption.
Uden says his group has filed a petition with the Department of Transportation to delay and ultimately fix the electronic logging device rule to ensure animal welfare is in place when producers have to ship livestock.
Uden says they’re also keeping a close watch on what happens with trade agreements as that’s important to the economic well being of the U.S. cattle industry.
