A group of over 2100 farmers and ranchers, members of the Minnesota Land Stewardship Project have sent a letter to the House Select Committee on climate change. LSP Policy Program Organizer Jessica Kochick says they’re asking for Congressional support and investment in agriculture to help them with practices to improve the environmental footprint.

She says producers are the original environmentalists that hold the key to addressing the climate crisis and can do that more quickly and effectively if they’re provided the incentives from the federal government to achieve that.

Kochick says there is pending legislation in the House that LSP is backing that would help farmers and ranchers address climate change.

House Select Committee Chair Kathy Castor of Florida says the USDA and Policymakers can be better partners with farmers to help enact lasting climate solutions to boost the economy, protect families and leave a sustainable country for future generations.
