A group of Minnesota Land Stewardship Project members are in Washington D.C. this week speaking with policymakers about implementation of the 2018 Farm Bill. LSP Policy Program Organizer Tom Nuessmeier says they’re discussing the changes in conservation programs and how they are and should be working.

He says their members are also pleased there were positive changes made to the crop insurance program.

Nuessmeier says they’re encouraging speedy implementation of the farm bill due to the economic pressure farmers are currently under.

Nuessmeier says the timing of their meetings with members of Congress is good and they will soon be determining levels of farm bill funding for fiscal year 2020.
