The Corps of Engineers is warning those that depend on the Missouri River for municipal, industrial and irrigation uses to be prepared for low water conditions.

John Remus, Chief of the Missouri River Basin Water Management Office in Omaha, says water conservation will be needed this summer….

The Corps, during their monthly update Wednesday, reported runoff into the system this year will be just under eighteen million acre feet, or about seventy percent of normal.

Remus says a letter has been sent to those that have water intakes in the river….

Remus says there will be adequate water for all uses, but access may be a problem….

Releases from Gavins Point Dam are just under thirty thousand cubic feet per second, but may need to go as low as twelve thousand CFS during the winter.
