The delay in starting a new, twenty-two million gallon a day well has the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System in a bind.
Executive Director Troy Larson says they are maxed out in pumping about twenty eight million gallons a day…..
The new collector well was supposed to be online in early June, but equipment delays have pushed back its availability until next month or even into September.
Larson says they have several other projects underway this summer….
Larson says millions of federal dollars have helped jump start many other construction plans…..
The system pumps water to towns and cities in South Dakota, Iowa and Minnesota from wells near the Missouri River south of Vermillion.
