The South Dakota Stockgrowers Association just concluded their annual convention and members identified low cattle prices and increasing beef imports as their top priorities. Executive Director Silvia Christen says the U.S. is now allowing beef from Brazil at a time when beef imports are already hurting the cattle market.
She says Stockgrower members have problems with trade agreements and particularly the Trans Pacific Partnership.
Christen says the state issues they’re looking at in the upcoming legislative session include property taxes and the Governor’s buffer plan.
Christen says during their business session, President Bill Kluck of Mud Butte and Vice President Gary Deering of Sturgis were both re-elected.
