Loopholes in Farm Programs Cause Concerns

Loopholes in Farm Programs Cause Concerns

Public comments are being taken until tomorrow on a USDA rule covering those actively engaged in farming in order for those people to receive farm payments. Center for Rural Affairs Traci Bruckner says the newly proposed rule allows even more loopholes than the prior one and would allow farm managers or their wives to receive government assistance.
Bruckner says that increases the amount of payments to larger operations at the expense of smaller family run farms and ranches.

Bruckner says anyone wanting to comment on the rule may contact her at the Center for Rural Affairs at 402—687—2100 or go to their website.
