Nebraska Farm Bureau Vice President Mark McHargue has ascended to the Presidency of the organization at this week’s annual meeting. He says they developed policy related to their task force studying the cattle market pricing issue. He says they put no specific numbers in their recommendation but support expanding cash trade for producers.

He says at the state level, his group intends to keep working on getting Senators to lessen the property tax burden on agriculture.

McHargue says he also wants to see the State lawmakers use incentives to expand the small meat processing industry.

McHargue who’s served as Vice President for the past nine years replaces Steve Nelson who’s been Farm Bureau President over that same time.
