A researcher for the University of Nebraska says misconceptions hurt the public’s understanding of droughts.
Climatologist Deborah Bathke at the National Drought Mitigation Center says Nebraskans have a bit more of a grasp on the devastating impact of drought, because of the state’s close ties to farming. . .

Bathke says, for instance, it is difficult to project when California will recover from the drought conditions which have plagued the state for the last four to five years. . .

Bathke says the drought in California has had and will continue to have negative implications for the rest of the country…and even parts of the world.
