Livestock Industry Continuing To Push For ELD Resolution

The livestock industry continues to push for a solution to the Electronic Logging Device rule. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says they aren’t getting any satisfaction from the Department of Transportation, so they may need legislative action.

However, Michael Formica with the National Pork Producers Council says they’ve been making progress with the Department of Transportation and Congress on a fix to the hours of service for agricultural.

Woodall says in the mean time they’re asking DOT for another waiver from the ELD rule for livestock haulers, with their eye on a longer exemption.

The current waiver from the ELD rule for agriculture runs through September 30.
