S-A-B Biotherapeutics, a Sioux Falls company this week received a $ 3 million grant from the Sioux Falls Development Foundation. South Dakota Bio Tech Association Executive Director Joni Johnson says it’s a significant investment in biotechnology that will help S-A-B use its genetically engineered cattle to make human antibodies.
Johnson says one of the challenges for S-A-B has been to deal with a slew of regulations and having this type of help will allow them to move their business forward.
Johnson says this will be a good tool for hopefully attracting more biotech businesses to South Dakota. S-A-B started in Sioux Falls as Hematech in 2002 and was acquired by Sanford in late 2012.
