Crowded conditions in the Minnehaha County jail in Sioux Falls is causing some Lincoln County prisoners to move to the Yankton County jail.
Sheriff Jim Vlahakis asked the county commission this week to approve a contract with Lincoln County. He says eleven prisoners from Lincoln County have been moved to the jail. Vlahakis says they will have to watch their staffing levels as numbers rise….

Vlahakis says other counties are charged sixty one dollars a day per prisoner, but that will change later this year….

The Yankton County jail has room for one hundred thirty prisoners.
