Officials at the Lewis and Clark Regional Water System building into southwest Minnesota say phase two of the project cost eight million dollars less than expected and they’re asking the legislature’s permission to put that money toward the final phase into Worthington. The pipeline, which brings water from wells near Vermillion into southwest Minnesota, South Dakota and Iowa — currently goes to Luverne and the Lincoln/Pipestone hookup near Adrian. Officials indicate about 3.5 million dollars of additional state money is necessary to complete the connection to Worthington.
