When Dakotacare announced in September that they would not offer insurance policies through the healthcare exchange, that meant there would be only two companies offering coverage; Avera Health and Sanford.
Deb Muller is Chief Administrative Officer for the Avera Health Plans. She says they are concerned about the lack of choices for consumers……

Muller says those who held Dakotacare coverage can look at the ACA marketplace, and also at companies off the exchange……

Muller says having more carriers would help hold prices down…..

According to Healthcare dot gov, both Avera and Sanford are predicting a thirteen percent increase in premium costs next year.
Dakotacare and Wellmark are both offering plans off the exchange. Dakotacare predicts a sixty three percent increase, with Wellmark looking at a forty three percent increase in premium rates.
