The South Dakota legislature this year increased state aid to schools by two percent, which was a bit above the mandated inflation rate increase of one point five percent.
Yankton School Superintendent Dr. Wayne Kindle says they appreciate any increase.
Kindle says there had been talk during the session of a higher increase.
Kindle says they continue to tap a couple of reserve funds to offset their declining state aid.
The district is in the midst of their budget work for the next school year.
