South Dakota legislators questioned the head of the Department of Social Services about a report uncovered by South Dakota Newswatch of continued abuse at the Aurora Plains Academy in Plankinton.
Secretary Laurie Gill told the Government Operations and Audit Committee she is just starting a review of that treatment center…

Gill says there may be changes after the review….

Gill says many of the abuses in the report have already been corrected…

The academy is a privately run, government funded facility that treats young people with mental or behavior problems.
