Legislators Disagree on Medical Marijuana

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem says she will call the legislature back for a special session later this spring to work through rules for the use of medical marijuana. Voters approved “IM26” last November which legalizes medical uses on July first.

House Majority Leader Kent Peterson of Salem says they tried to pass something during the regular session….

Peterson says there is a difference of opinion between the House and Senate…

Peterson says local governments could use some help in coming up with rules and regulations…

The Governor says she will also ask the legislature for help in spending the next round of federal funding, estimated to be around a billion dollars.
