An interim South Dakota legislative committee looking at the meandered and non meandered waters issue met in Pierre this week and meets again next week. Committee member, State Representative Mary Duvall of Pierre says they want to review the draft bill and then possibly hold a special session later in June.
She says her committee is attempting to balance the interests of landowners, sportsmen and business owners with their draft legislation.
Duvall says there are very positive components in the bill for landowners.
The legislative committee made up of 15 members was put together earlier this year to study the issue following a State Supreme Court decision in March that led to the closing of 28 fishing lakes.
