Companion legislation has been introduced in the U.S. House to remove regulatory restrictions that are keeping E 15 from the marketplace all year around. Current rules put limits on the fuel during the summer. Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Executive Director Monte Shaw says the Fuel Choice and Deregulation Act allows consumers the option to purchase E 15.

Shaw says while the legislation should get wide spread support, it’s tough to tell based on the past track record of recent Congressional votes on various issues.

Senators Chuck Grassley and Rand Paul are carrying the bill in the Senate while Congressmen Rod Blum and David Young of Iowa and Collin Peterson of Minnesota along with Ken Buck of Colorado are co sponsoring the measure in the House.
