Nebraska lawmakers are looking at legislation that would help shut down and prosecute operators of puppy mills. Nebraska Humane Society’s Vice President of Field Operations Mark Langan there are several reasons why they haven’t been able to shut them down after finding animal abuse.
Langan says one of the bills under consideration would provide funding so the department can do their job.
Langan says the majority of dog breeders in the state do an excellent job in caring for their dogs but it only takes a few bad apples to give the entire breeding community a bad reputation.
