New legislation in Congress would seek solutions to connecting precision agriculture equipment to broadband internet. The Precision Agriculture Connectivity Act of 2018 calls for a task force to evaluate high speed internet access on cropland and ranch land. Farm Bureau Congressional Relations Director R.J. Karney says the task force will identify connectivity challenges in rural areas.
He says farmers are turning to precision agriculture to streamline and enhance their farming practices, which requires adequate broadband connections.
Karney says farmers and ranchers need better access to the internet and this legislation would address that need.
The legislation is supported by the Ag Broadband Coalition, which includes the American Farm Bureau.
