Three Husker players chose to kneel during the National Anthem at last Saturday’s game against Northwestern. Senior linebacker Michael Rose-Ivey spoke at a news conference saying the three Huskers joined other professional and amateur athletes who are protesting racial injustice. There have been questions whether sanctions can be taken against the players because they attend a public university. Creighton University Law Professor Patrick Borchers says Coach Mike Riley could have the largest impact on the players.

Borchers says this is a case of choosing your battles wisely.

Head Coach Mike Riley stated this week their choice was made for personal reasons. Governor Pete Ricketts called their actions disgraceful and disrespectful.
