The oldest county fair in Iowa opens today and attendees will celebrate its 175th anniversary. Lee County Fair Board President Brock Westfall credits volunteers with keeping the event going since 1841.

This year’s fair includes a display of more than 500 photographs documenting the Lee County Fair’s 175-year history. Some of the other planned events include mule and horse races, carnival rides, a mixed martial arts competition, a sand volleyball tournament, livestock shows, and car shows. The Lee County Fair runs through June 11th in Donnellson.
