Cattlemen’s Associations from across the region are praising farm state lawmakers for pressing the CME to change their proposed delivery discount at Worthing, South Dakota. The CME Group was looking at $1.50 per hundredweight discount on October live cattle contract month deliveries at Worthing. South Dakota Cattlemen’s President Todd Wilkinson says it’s not fair to single out one delivery point for the rule.
He says Representatives and Senators, led by South Dakota’s John Thune, are on target asking for an independent study of all the cattle delivery points in the country.
Wilkinson hopes with so many elected officials weighing in on this issue it will help cattle producers get the resolution they want to ensure a fair market system.
The CME is currently holding a comment period on their proposed rule.
