Federal lawmakers are looking for help for farmers and grain elevators facing the current propane shortage. House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson and a bipartisan group of lawmakers they’ve asked for relief from the Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Minnesota Corn Growers Association President Les Anderson appreciates the support and says this year’s extreme weather has led to wet grain and an increased need for drying.

Anderson has been able to overcome the challenge so far getting his crop dried down.

He says the increased demand for propane this fall has been seen across the Northern Plains and several other states.

Anderson says this has been the most drawn out harvest season he’s ever experienced. He has about 30 to 40 percent of his corn still in the field.
