Extra law enforcement will be on Minnesota roads to crack down on lead-footed drivers starting Friday. Speed is a major factor in summer crashes and contributes to about one in five traffic deaths and 284 serious injuries each year.
State Patrol Lt. Tiffani Nielson says motorists unnecessarily risk their lives when they exceed the speed limit. The stepped-up enforcement campaign runs through July 26th.
