Larson Reviews Session

The Nebraska Unicameral wrapped up the 2015 session last week by passing a budget, then overriding the Governor’s veto of the death penalty repeal.

District 40 Senator Tyson Larson of O’Neill says there were peaks and valleys during the session…

Governor Pete Ricketts criticized the body, saying Senators were out of touch with the people they represent, especially on the death penalty repeal. Larson says not all issues should be “all or nothing”…

Larson voted to sustain the Governor’s veto on the override.

He says overall, he thought he had a pretty good year…

Lawmakers also increased the gas tax by six cents a gallon, and allowed children of illegal immigrants the right to get a driver’s license.
