This week the House Interior Appropriations Committee sent out a measure allocating funding for the Interior Department, EPA and related agencies for fiscal year 2015. Public Lands Council Executive Director Dustin Van Liew is pleased with the approval and says it contains several provisions that match their priorities mainly primary language from the Grazing Improvement Act.
Van Liew says the legislation also blocks the listing of the Sage Grouse and requires alternative allotments when ranchers are impacted by drought or wildfire without the need to complete extensive environmental analyses.
Van Liew is hoping they’ll get approval from the full House but says it’s not sure how the measure will go over in the Senate.
