Landowners now have the opportunity to extend eligible Conservation Reserve Program acres up to 30 years as an effort to improve water quality. U-S-D-A officials have announced the “Clean Lakes, Estuaries, and Rivers initiative or known as CLEAR30. Nebraska Farm Services Agency director, John Burge (rhymes with Purge) says sign-up has started and will continue through August 5th. Burge tells of the eligible acres within the region.
Burge says rental contract rates will remain the same as the original CRP contract, with an additional 20 percent as a sign-up incentive. The Nebraska F-S-A director explains how the program will help improve water quality.
Burge says farmers have shown interest in the program in the past, and he hopes they will again be encouraged to enroll in the long-term program.
