Land Taxes up for Debate Next Week in Nebraska Legislature

Nebraska lawmakers will start debate next week on a bill that would change how agricultural land is valued for tax purposes. The bill also proposes an income tax rate reduction. Former state Senator and Speaker Greg Adams of York is now executive director of the Nebraska Community College Association and he says the bill is a worry.

Adams says debate on the bill could end up with no resolution.

The latest plan would see state funding to community colleges held steady in the first year of the two-year budget, then fall for the six schools by about a-million dollars in the second year.
