Minnesota Land Stewardship Project members are studying the farm bill which passed the Senate Tuesday afternoon. Policy Program Organizer Ben Anderson says they’re pleased several conservation provisions are included in the measure including the Conservation Stewardship and Environmental Quality Incentives programs.
He says they wanted the farm program payment loopholes closed up and actively engaged and farm program payment limits left in the legislation.
Anderson says there’s not enough time to change the farm bill, so they’ll have to decide soon whether they can support it as is.
Anderson says their federal farm policy steering committee made up of farmers will determine whether they can support the farm bill.
