Mount Marty College Men’s Basketball has announced the signing of four players to the 2015-2016 recruiting class.
Drew Cheskie, Treasure Hollister, Gennaro Silvestro and Tanner Sumption will join the Lancers this fall.
Drew Cheskie will add some size to the roster as a 6’5’’, 210 lb. forward from Ellsworth, MN. During his time playing for Ellsworth Public High School, Cheskie helped his team to three conference runner-up finishes. He averaged 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists his senior year. Cheskie was named an All-conference performer and chosen as the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year. A multiple honor roll student and Academic All-Conference honoree he also excels in the music department. Cheskie is the son of Suzanne and Jereme Lenz, and Jeff and Nikki Cheskie. He plans to major in pre-professional at MMC this fall.
Treasure Hollister comes to MMC from Guernsey, WY where he was a standout athlete for the 1A program at Guernsey-Sunrise High School. Hollister was the team’s leading scorer and was named the school’s Male Athlete of the Year. The 5’7’’ point guard was named All-State 1A and was an All-Conference performer. Hollister is the son of Magdalena Estrada and Robert Dominguez, Jr., and Thomas Hollister. Hollister is currently undecided on a major at MMC.
Gennaro Silvestro, a native from Scottsdale, AZ will join the Lancers after a standout High School career at Notre Dame Prep High School in Scottsdale, AZ. The 6’3’’ shooter averaged 18.5 pints, 3.5 rebounds, and 3 assists during his senior season. He was a team captain and was named team MVP as well as named to the top 20 list of male athletes from his high school. Silvestro also played for Team Zona during the summers for Coach Tim Howard. Silvestro is the son of Giuseppe and Sophia Silvestro and plans to major in pre-professional with hopes of attending physical therapy school in the future.
Tanner Sumption is a South Dakota product hailing from Rapid City, SD where he graduated from Rapid City Central High School. The 6’7’’ player helped the Cobblers reach the region semifinals in 2015 before falling to state qualifier Aberdeen Central. During his senior season the forward averaged 8 points and 4 rebounds per game. He was named Academic All-State and also reached the state boys tennis finals. Sumption is the son of Brian and Pauline Sumption, and will be a pre-professional major at MMC this fall.
Head Coach Andrew Baker is happy to announce the four signings. “All four of these players will add to our freshmen class in different, yet positive ways. Cheskie and Sumption will add some size where Drew is very big and strong and can score on the block. Tanner is skilled for his size as he can pass it very well, shoot, and finish around the rim. Treasure is a scoring point guard who will need to get stronger but has a nice upside. Lastly, Gennaro is a nice athlete with good size and a college ready body who can really shoot it. I am excited for all of these young men to join our program.”
All four of these student athletes are recipients of an MMC academic scholarship as well as a basketball scholarship.
