South Dakota State University linebacker T.J. Lally was honored Sunday as the Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
A senior from Chicago, Lally recorded a season-high 17 tackles, including a half-tackle for loss, and added a fumble recovery and two pass breakups for the Jackrabbits in their 30-24, double-overtime loss at Western Illinois. Lally, who started his 52nd consecutive game, registered double figures in tackles for the 12th time in his career as he moved into second place on the all-time SDSU tackles chart with 401.
Lally is the second Jackrabbit player in as many weeks to be named MVFC Defensive Player of the Week, joining Nick Farina, who was honored after SDSU’s Nov. 14 road victory at South Dakota.
