President-elect Donald Trump has chosen CKE Restaurant CEO Andy Puzder to head the Labor Department. Puzder is a strong supporter of comprehensive immigration reform. That’s good news for the dairy industry according to Roger Scheibe, Executive Director of the South Dakota Dairy Producers Association. He says having a good reliable immigrant workforce is critical for America’s and the state’s dairy producers.

Puzder, who’s business operates Hardee’s and Carl’s Junior burger chains, is a proponent for guest workers. Scheibe says that’s something his industry has wanted for some time.

Schiebe says immigrant labor is not only important for agriculture and the dairy industry but for the whole U.S. economy.

Schiebe says most dairy producers utilize the E-verify system that ensures immigrant workers are legal, which is something Puzder also supports.
