South Dakota State University 149-pounder Alex Kocer has been named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week after picking up a pair of victories in dual action against league foes last weekend.

A junior from Wagner, Kocer scored a 20-2 technical fall over West Virginia’s Zachary Moore on Feb. 12 as the Jackrabbits extended their dual winning streak to a school-record 12 matches. He closed the weekend with a 9-5 decision against Oklahoma’s Davion Jeffries. With the two wins, Kocer improved to 21-8 overall and 13-5 in dual competition this season.

Kocer is the first Jackrabbit wrestler to earn a Big 12 Conference weekly award.

South Dakota State will close out the 2015-16 dual season Sunday afternoon at North Dakota State. Start time is 2 p.m. at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse on the NDSU campus in Fargo. The Big 12 Championships are slated for March 5-6 in Kansas City, Missouri.
