Hail and strong winds this week on Wednesday night hammered corn and soybean fields and third cutting alfalfa in Knox County Nebraska. Knox County Farm Service Agency Director Rod Repenning says the Lindy area appeared to be the hardest hit.
He says the effects of the storm are quite devastating given all the stress farmers in the county have experienced this year from earlier spring flooding. Repenning says to top all of that, the crops had been looking good.
Repenning says the winds as high as 80 miles an hour along with golf ball size hail did the damage.
Repenning says the only assistance available is through crop insurance so producers need to check with their local agents.
