The Trans Canada Keystone I pipeline leaked in Hutchinson County, South Dakota over the weekend causing an oil spill. Dakota Rural Action members are expressing concern over the incident. DRA member and landowner Sue Sibson says the spill should have been reported earlier to both the public and to the landowner involved.
Sibson has property the Keystone I pipeline crosses and is concerned with how spills are dealt with and reported.
She says one of her major concerns is the effect tar sand spills have on the water, the land and the overall environment.
Sibson says her group believes corporations doing business in the state need to be responsible.
