Iowa Dairy Groups Outline Remaining State Legislative Priorities

Iowa State Dairy Association members continue to monitor several dairy specific bills going through the Iowa Legislature this session. Dairy Association Executive Director Mitch Schulte says one deals with milk hauling. The groups wants to make sure overweight milk tankers can travel on interstate highways rather than having to move on more congested state and county roads and make frequent stops.

He says as dairy producers are working to be more sustainable and environmentally responsible they want state lawmakers to pass a measure allowing anaerobic digesters on dairy operations.

Schulte advises his group’s members and others to weigh in with legislators on the anaerobic digester legislation and ask for its passage.

Schulte says their dairy producers are also interested in seeing lawmakers approve broadband legislation.
