MoDak Dairy of Goodwin, South Dakota is hosting a college student from Kenya, Africa taking part in the Ohio Program to learn about the United States dairy industry. Kevin Kamau came in March and will be at the dairy for a year learning about dairy production methods in hopes of starting his own operation.

Kamau says he’s getting some great work experience at MoDak Dairy in all aspects of dairy production.

Kamau says the dairy industry in Kenya is small in size compared to the U.S., but most of the people are still subsistence farmers that have at least a few head of cattle they milk by hand.

He says Kenya is a country with a population of 52 million people and so there is great potential for growth in all facets of agriculture.
